T123s: Documented on 25 days in June

In our most recent killer whale sightings map, we mentioned that the T123s were the most commonly seen group for the second consecutive month, documented on 25 days in June.
While they were seen throughout the central Salish Sea, many observers made note of how much time they spent in Bellingham Bay, Washington! It’s not uncommon for a family group of orcas to show a short-term preference for a specific geographic area like this. We can only assume they’ve found particularly good eating and decide to stick around a bit longer than usual before moving on.
This map shows everywhere the T123s were seen and traveled last month. The red dots match the first sighting locations from our monthly map, and the black dots indicate their last sighting location on a given day. The dotted lines show their presumed travel route, giving you a little more insight into where all this one family group traveled throughout the course of June.
