We often say orcas can travel over 100 miles in a day, but that doesn't make it any less impressive when they do so! It's amazing to see how much of their range they can cover over the course of just a few days. Thanks to a video shared by Dockside Charters Sportfishing and Whale Watching, we saw that the T90s were among the Bigg's killer whales seen off Lincoln City, Oregon on April 24th. (Fun side note: Monika used to go out with Dockside Charters as a kid to see gray whales on the Oregon Coast, long before she ever saw orcas for the first time!)

Then yesterday, April 29th, vessels from the Pacific Whale Watch Association picked up the T90s heading north near Sidney Spit on the BC side of Haro Strait. That's about 350 miles they traveled in less than 5 days! It's probably nothing out of the ordinary for the whales, but this type of tracking of their movements is only possible thanks to hundreds of human observers being willing to collaborate and share to their reports. Thanks to everyone from Oregon to Washington to BC who openly contributes to these efforts!
