Stay tuned for tonight's edition of Monika's play-by-play to hear how yesterday unfolded and get fan reactions, but the way it ended was with a T-Party of 33 Bigg's killer whales in Rosario Strait. Present were the T36A1s, T63, T65, T65A5, T75Bs, T90s, T99B, T100s, T101s, T123s, T124Ds, T137s

The whales themselves were of course spectacular but it was also special to share the moment on the water in a spontaneous gathering of other whale enthusiasts from the San Juan Islands, Anacortes, and Bellingham who all dropped any other evening plans to take in the magic of this incredible place we live. Just like the gatherings that happen at Lime Kiln for Southern Residents, one of the greatest gifts the whales give us is the connection not just to them but to one another.

Breach from T123D D'Arcy
From left to right T101B Lagoon, T100C Laurel, and T100 Hutchins
So many dorsal fins!
Sunset cuddle puddle
T123 Sidney, T123A Stanley, and T63 Chainsaw
Tail slap from T123A Stanley as T63 Chainsaw surfaces beside him
That orange reflection on the dorsal
The T90s!
