

Community Participation Instructions
Do you want to create your own life-sized Southern Resident dorsal fin? Participating is easy.
1. Choose any Southern Resident killer whale and find a reference photo.
2. Decide what medium you would like to use: cardboard, plywood, recycled materials, paper mâché, paint, fabric—anything you’re inspired by.
Get creative; there are no limits!
3. Use the size guide graphic below to help you scale your fin correctly. Use the reference to match their fin shape, saddle patch, and any other distinctive markings.
4. Once your fin is complete, snap a photo and share it on social media using:
