📣 Registration is NOW OPEN for our spring 2026 iteration of Bigg’s 201 - an adult research experience!
Bigg’s 201 is a four-and-a-half month course designed to improve participant’s scientific literacy and give in depth insight to the Bigg’s killer whale population. A mixture of virtual lectures, discussions, and in-person excursions, Bigg’s 201 provides the opportunity to:
- Try collecting whale behavioral data in the field;
- Learn to create visuals (maps and graphs) utilizing real-world data sets as each participant follows a Bigg’s killer whale family group throughout the course;
- Showcase your scientific communication skills as the course culminates with an in-person presentation on each participant’s Bigg’s family group.
No matter your background, skill set, or familiarity with Bigg’s killer whales, this course is designed to lead participants through a step-by-step process, while in community with other whale enthusiasts.
