Fantastic weekend with our first-ever Bigg’s 301 class

We just wrapped up another fantastic weekend, this time with our first-ever Bigg’s 301 class. These passionate, dedicated students wanted to keep going after Bigg’s 201, so we developed and advanced research class looking at extended family groups of Bigg's killer whales and discussing topics such as dispersal, acoustics, Alaskan Bigg’s, and more.
Over the last two days, students gave extended presentations, considered possible future research directions, and we all got out on the water with our friends at Outer Island Excursions for two beautiful evenings including time with T68 and the T75Bs.
If you’re curious about our Whale University classes, you can learn more at the link below. Registration is currently open for a fully virtual version of our Bigg’s 201 class, an introduction to whale research that will run this fall and winter.
